Kilocore - World's First 1,000-Processor Chip

A microchip containing 1,000 independent programmable processors has been designed by a team at the University of California, Davis, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The energy-efficient “KiloCore” chip has a maximum computation rate of 1.78 trillion instructions per second and works at 1.78Ghz.The chip having 1000 processors and 12 independent memory modules is able to process data and instructions simultaneously. The chip was fabricated by IBM using their 32nm PD-SOI CMOS technology.

At 1.1V the chip can execute 1.78 trillion instructions and 1 trillion instructions per second at 0.84V dissipating 13.1Watt.
